In minority communities, mental illnesses are often viewed as character or spiritual flaws or moral weaknesses and not as the biological brain disorders they are. Yolonda Kelsor Clay, Jennifer Dishman, and Marisol Valles—known as the MAC divas (Multicultural Action Committee) of the Lexington chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness—are committed to changing that.
