Preventing Child Abuse (#628)
Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky is a nonprofit organization that focuses on parent education as well as training for law enforcement, social service and medical providers.
Dwayne F. Depp, formerly with the Kentucky State Police, explains that 70 percent of abuse cases involve neglect, and talks about how poverty increases the risk of child abuse. He discuses child-abuse reporting requirements and explains how the state deals with the thousands of child-abuse reports it receives in a year. He also explains how parent education makes a difference and offers resources for seeking help.
