Poet Hope Johnson (#728)

Hope Johnson, who has roots in Harlan County and Hazard, has been influenced by her peers and mentors of the Affrilachian Poets, Frank X Walker and Nikky Finney. Johnson has been published in Pluck! Journal of Affrilachian Arts and Culture and Pine Mountain, Sand and Gravel.

She recently organized 'God Ain't Makin' No More Land,' a marathon literary reading featuring Kentucky poets and writers at UK. She earned a BA in English from UK in 2011.
