Susan Pope (#812)
At age 10 Susan Pope would hide under her bed as her mother was being battered in the next room, not knowing then that it was domestic violence. She and her sister's exposure to a violent abuser did not seem to connect, at the time, to her falling grades or her sister's bad behavior. Years later, she parlayed those experiences into a one-woman play with 10 different characters, 5 Styrofoam heads, and striking physicality and expressions. "Dreadfully White" has been described by audiences as incredibly intense, inciting laughter and chilling them to the bone at the same time.
