Buckwild, which debuted in January 2013, is described by MTV as "authentic comedic series following an outrageous group of childhood friends from the rural foothills of West Virginia who love to dodge grown-up responsibilities and always live life with the carefree motto, 'whatever happens, happens."
Bradner argues that the producers of the show are creating a damaging caricature of an isolated, impoverished region they do not fully understand, and that this condescending portrayal will hurt the state and its young stars.
