Anti-Bullying Expert Dorothy J. Edwards (#841)

Dorothy J. Edwards, who holds a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Texas Woman’s University, served for five years as the founding director of the University of Kentucky Violence Intervention and Prevention Center.

Now the executive director of Green Dot Etcetera, she works with government entities, non-profits, and schools globally to implement her community-based strategy for reducing violence. According to Edwards, the Green Dot model targets all community members as potential bystanders, and seeks to engage them in proactive behaviors that establish intolerance of violence as the norm, as well as reactive interventions in high-risk situations.

Edwards will be featured in an upcoming episode of KET's Health Three60 examining the issue of bullying in schools, to air Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 9/8 pm CT on KET.
