Pop Culture and Commodification of Women (#908)

Guests are two members of the University of Louisville Women's and Gender Studies Department faculty: Dawn Heinecken, Ph.D., associate professor, and Kaila Story, Ph.D., assistant professor.

Heinecken is the author of The Warrior Women of Television: A Feminist Cultural Analysis of the New Female Body in Popular Media.

Story holds a joint appointment in the Department of Pan-African Studies. She holds the Audre Lorde Chair in Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UofL. She is the author of "Racing Sex/Sexing Race: The Invention of the Black Feminine Body," in the book, Imagining the Black Female Body: Reconciling Image in Print and Visual Culture.
