Human Trafficking (#911)
Kentucky's 2013 Human Trafficking Victims Rights Act increases penalties and prison sentences for individuals who exploit children for sexual purpose. The legislation also provides training so that law enforcement officers can better recognize signs of human trafficking. The bill offers “safe harbor” protection so that human trafficking victims forced into the sex trade receive treatment rather than jail time.
Guests are Regan Lookadoo, PhD, a Georgetown College psychology professor, and Sgt. Andre Bottoms of the Louisville-Metro Police Department.
