Fast Forward Resources for Teachers

KET has developed Fast Forward online courses for learners with a course management system for teachers. Yes, you can enroll learners in re-usable seats, track seat time, keep up with your students’ progress, and generate reports! You can take a virtual tour or try a sample lesson now.

Fast Forward courses include a Teacher Toolkit offering classroom extension activities, additional instructional video segments, and correlations to GED® Assessment Targets, CCSS (Common Core State Standards), and more. The Fast Forward courses will help learners prepare for the 2014 GED® tests, and plans call for HiSET and TASC resources to follow quickly. Learn more.

Professional Development

• Adult Education Resources: KET has created a collection of Professional Development and Classroom Resources within PBS LearningMedia. The topics found in this collection include professional development and instructional resources designed specifically for the adult education field.
Resources in this collection include videos, printable handouts, and self-paced lessons. Learners can study math, reading, critical thinking skills, and test prep. And, teachers will find best practices, materials about students with learning challenges, extensive information about the 2014 GED® test, and more.

• GED® Test Info: KET partnered with GED Testing Service® to create two, new, free, for-credit courses to give teachers an in-depth look at the 2014 GED® test.
• GED® Test Info: Reasoning Through Language Arts
• GED® Test Info: Mathematics
Each course reviews basic information about the entire GED® test, then delves into more detail about the language arts or mathematics tests. Both also include lots of instructional tips and techniques. At the end of each course, teachers complete a quiz and earn a Certificate of Completion. Check out both courses now in PBS TeacherLine.

• Teaching Strategies: Several video collections in PBS LearningMedia let you watch real adult education teachers in actual classroom settings. You will find effective techniques for teaching reading and math, promoting group discussion, encouraging critical thinking, and managing the classroom environment. Look at the following collections on PBS LearningMedia - Teaching Strategies; Reading Instructional Strategies; Math Instructional Strategies: Number Operations and Geometry.

• Guide to Common Core Standards: Kentucky Adult Education This PBS Learning Media collection includes video segments of adult education instructors exploring the common core standards. Led by adult education trainer Dawn Hanzel, instructors work together in a learning community to explore the language of the standards. They also learn how to identify the most effective resources for standards-based instruction.
