KET Professional Development

KET has many K-12 professional learning resources for Kentucky teachers, including online professional development with self-paced modules, facilitated courses, and stand-alone resources adaptable for multiple audiences. Some of these resources are also available for EILA credit for administrators.

All of KET's professional development includes video models of best practices featuring Kentucky teachers. You can see what good teaching looks like in Kentucky classrooms of all ages and content areas.

In addition, KET has online SBDM training for new and experienced SBDM members and training for Operation Preparation community mentors.

KET also produces Education Matters, a monthly series exploring the educational issues of interest to Kentuckians, which features recorded segments from Kentucky classrooms and panel discussions. Select programs from the series can be used to meet the requirement for experienced SBDM member training.

KET works closely with partners such as the Kentucky Department of Education to ensure its professional development courses and resources meet the Kentucky definitions and standards of high quality professional development and are aligned with the Kentucky Standards and Indicators for School Improvement and the New or Experienced Teacher Standards.

Rockcastle County Middle School

KET recently visited Rockcastle County Middle School, a high-performing school where teachers feel valued and trusted to try new strategies—in this case, implementing formative assessments.

The new Formative Assessment in Practice self-paced modules have many more examples of teachers using formative assessments to change instruction. Use the modules and the video to receive professional development credit (with permission of your school or district) or as conversation starters within professional learning communities.
