Election 2003: The Candidates

In November 2003, Kentuckians elected a new governor and lieutenant governor and cast ballots for secretary of state, attorney general, auditor of public accounts, state treasurer, and commissioner of agriculture. During the campaign, all of the candidates whose names appeared on the general election ballot for these statewide races participated in live candidate forums produced by KET.

The forums, moderated by Bill Goodman of KET’s Kentucky Tonight, featured a panel of journalists asking questions of each candidate. Candidates also were given an opportunity to question each other.

In the list below, asterisks indicate the eventual winning candidates. Click on a title to view an archived forum. [Help with RealPlayer®]

See our 2003 Gubernatorial Race page for additional KET programs about Fletcher and Chandler.

The 2003 edition of Fancy Farm: Pork, Pie and Politics, KET’s coverage of the annual Graves County picnic that is a traditional jumping-off point for fall campaigns, includes excerpts of speeches by many of the candidates.

KET’s 2003 candidate forums were produced by Deidre Clark and directed by Carl Babcock. Donna Moore was executive producer.
