Election 2004: Special Election Forum The 2004 election cycle in Kentucky began with an extraa special election in Central Kentuckys 6th District to fill the U.S. House seat vacated by Ernie Fletcher, who was elected governor in November 2003. KET invited all three candidates on the ballot to participate in a live forum. Libertarian candidate Mark Gailey accepted the invitation; Democrat Ben Chandler and Republican Alice Forgy Kerr did not participate. The 30-minute question-and-answer session with Gailey was produced live on February 9. It was moderated by Bill Goodman, host of KETs Kentucky Tonight.
