Election 2012

Election Day was Nov. 6, 2012. On the ballot were contests for president, Congress, and the Kentucky legislature. For information about your precinct location and legislative districts, go to the Board of Elections Voter Information Center.

Election Night Coverage

KET presented statewide election returns and comprehensive analysis of Election 2012. Bill Goodman and Renee Shaw were joined in the studio by political observers Al Cross of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky, Courier-Journal political columnist and author John David Dyche, and former state Democratic Party chair Jennifer Moore.

The presidential and vice presidential debates are organized by the nonprofit, nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates. Coverage from PBS NewsHour Debates: A Special Report aired live on KET. PBS NewsHour provided 30 minutes of analysis afterward featuring NewsHour Political Editor Christina Bellantoni, NewsHour political analysts Mark Shields and David Brooks, and NPR reporters Ari Shapiro, Scott Horsely, Debbie Elliott, and Brian Naylor.

  • Candidates for the 2nd and 5th Congressional Districts
    aired Oct. 1
    Featured in the first part of the program was the 2nd Congressional District race. Guest was Craig R. Astor, Libertarian Party. Invited but not participating were U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie, Republican, and David Lynn Williams, Democrat.
    Featured in the second part of the program was the 5th Congressional District race. Guest was Kenneth S. Stepp, Democratic Party. Invited but not participating was U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers.
