Primary 2012: The Vote

KET presented statewide election returns and comprehensive analysis on Primary 2012: The Vote, which aired Tuesday, May 22. Bill Goodman and Renee Shaw were joined in the studio by political observers Al Cross of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky, Courier-Journal political columnist and author John David Dyche, and former state Democratic Party chair Jennifer Moore.

Primary 2012: Candidate Discussion Programs

KET's Kentucky Tonight hosted a series of discussion programs with candidates for Congress who had opposition in the May 22 primary. All candidates whose names will appear on the ballot in these races were invited to participate.

  • Democrats for the 1st and 3rd Congressional Districts
    live on April 23
    Candidates invited are James Buckmaster and Charles Kendall Hatchett, 1st District; Burrel Charles Farnsley and Rep. John A. Yarmuth, 3rd District.
  • Republicans for the 6th Congressional District
    live on April 30
    Candidates invited are Garland "Andy" Barr, Patrick J. Kelly II, and Curtis Kenimer.
  • Democrats for the 4th and 5th Congressional Districts
    live on May 7
    Candidates invited are William R. "Bill" Adkins and Greg Frank, 4th District; Michael Ackerman and Kenneth S. Stepp, 5th District.
  • Republicans for the 4th Congressional District
    live on May 14
    Candidates invited are Marc Carey, Thomas Massie, Gary Moore, Brian D. Oerther, Walter Christian Schumm, Alecia Webb-Edgington, and Tom Wurtz.

The following candidates did not have primaries:
