Connecting Parts I and II of the Language Arts Writing Test
The Language Arts Writing Test Part I asks students to demonstrate important
writing skills - organization, sentence structure, usage, and
mechanics - by revising and editing existing passages. In Part II,
students show that they can generate writing on their own, using
many of the same skills as in Part I.
For example, one of the content areas for Part I is organization - unity, transitions, text
divisions, etc. In Part I, students will revise the organization of the passages.
In Part II, they will organize their own essays, using some of the same
skills to make their writing effective.
