The Major Writing Skill for Part I
By now you are aware that your GED language arts curriculum must teach editing skills in the areas of
- Organization
- Sentence Structure
- Usage
- Mechanics
Teaching students to edit the written word takes time. To be successful writers, your students must be able to apply their editing skills in their own writing as well as others’.
A motto often used in language pedagogy courses is “Focus on making better writers, not just a better piece of writing.” This motto helps educators realize that students need to be responsible for their own writing, rather than recipients of papers in which all errors have been corrected for them. This is a necessity for the GED Writing Test.
