Analysis Skills: Making the Connection
Analysis skills are important not only on the GED Tests, but also in life. Think for a moment about how often you analyze information and make decisions.
Adults use their analysis skills when they
- Vote in an election. Voters use analysis skills to compare and contrast candidates’ different points of view. Most adults can distinguish among a variety of forms of political rhetoric, including slogans, campaign promises, and negative advertising.
- Read an opinion piece and a factual article about the same subject. By reading two different types of sources, adults become aware of both the known facts about a subject and editorial opinions.
- Decide to change their behavior or activities for a certain purpose. Adults analyze the cause-and-effect relationships that determine many of their circumstances in order to figure out how to make positive changes.
