Shift Functions

Just as on a computer, the scientific calculator has a shift key. The shift key is used to activate alternate functions of the calculator.

Take a look at the calculator below. Do you see symbols and words written in yellow above the keys on the calculator? When the shift key is used in conjunction with another key, it changes the function of that key.

Move your mouse over the [Shift], [SquareRoot], [DC], and [Percent] alternate function keys on the calculator below to see what each key does.
