Types of Questions on Part I

Revision

Approximately 35% of the questions on Part I of the Language Arts Writing Test require the student to make revisions in the content areas of sentence structure, usage, and mechanics. Revision items include a stem with part of one or two sentences underlined.

The first answer choice is always the same as the original sentence. The four other answer choices offer alternative revisions for the underlined section of the question stem. For some questions, students must recognize that no revision is required.
