Eric Hornston joined a Mileage Club at his Somerset school and soon had a necklace filled with Toe Tokens®, one for each 5 miles he logged. Eric enjoyed walking so much, he convinced his family to start their own “mileage club” at home.
“Eric was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when he was five years old. Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disease. It’s not from obesity. When the Toe Token program came into effect, Eric took to it and his sugar numbers, for the first time, are under control.” Sharon Hornston, Eric’s parent, Somerset, Ky.
Being active as a family is great for everyone’s health, and has other emotional, psychological, and even spiritual benefits. When physical activity is part of your home routine, family walks and bike rides become a time to connect with the people you love.
