KET’s award-winning Arts Toolkits are high quality K-12 resources
aligned to Kentucky’s arts and humanities standards. These multimedia
resources offer a wealth of lesson plans, video segments,
ideas, and other resources for teaching the arts and for incorporating
across the curriculum. Toolkits in Dance, Drama, Music, and
Visual Arts are available for purchase by Kentucky teachers. The
Arts Toolkit web site offers additional lesson
plans and resources, online video previews, special features, and
other resources.
Dance (revised and expanded 2nd edition released in 2008); Visual Arts (2005); Drama (revised and expanded 2nd edition released in 2006); and Music toolkits are available now for purchase by Kentucky teachers.
The Drama Arts Toolkit includes the following materials:
- Two Drama Arts Toolkit DVDs. The Drama Toolkit DVDs provide
nearly 80 segments—or eight hours—of video featuring historical
and cultural information, artist interviews, and performance
excerpts.
- From Page to Stage CD-ROM. Produced in partnership with Stage
One, this CD-ROM explores the collaborative process of theater. The
CD-ROM includes video segments, photographs of set and costume
designs, audio interviews with playwrights, directors, and actors, and
additional lesson plans.

and special features that include a Tour of the Stage, the Shakespeare
feature Will Power, and a Kentuckians in Drama career feature.
The Visual Arts Toolkit includes the following materials:
- Two Visual Arts Toolkit DVDs. The toolkit’s 72 video segments
(eight hours total) introduce students to Kentucky artists working in
a variety of media, show them how to create works of art, and help
them look at and respond to works of art.
- Kentucky Virtual Art Museum on CD-ROM. This unique resource
includes images of more than 250 artworks from 20 Kentucky museums—
from Old Masters to contemporary works, cultural artifacts
to Kentucky folk arts and crafts. A special gallery spotlights examples
of art created by children out of found materials.
- Art Transparencies. This set of color transparencies covers a range
of periods and styles.
- Visual Arts Toolkit Binder. Find information, guides, and lesson
plans in these sections: Using the Toolkit, Effective Teaching,
Lesson Plans, Glossary, Responding to Visual Arts, For Primary,
Arts & Culture, Periods & Styles, Making Art, Visual Arts Resources,

The Visual Arts Toolkit also contains a set of Visual Arts Idea Cards
(mini-lessons and at-a-glance ideas) and Purposes of Art poster. The
Visual Arts section of the Arts Toolkit web site offers additional lesson plans and idea cards, video
previews, and special features that include an online version of the
Kentucky Virtual Art Museum with works by Kentucky students and
teachers and a Kentuckians in Visual Arts career feature.
The Music Toolkit includes the following materials:
- Three Music Arts Toolkit DVDs. Enjoy 12 hours—over 150 segments—
of performances, commentary, and demonstrations.
- World of Music CD-ROM. This interactive CD-ROM includes three
sections: Making Music, Toolkit World of Music Tour, and Listening Assessments.
- Music Toolkit Binder. Find information, guides, and lesson plans
in these sections: Using the Toolkit, Inclusive Teaching, Lesson
Plans, Music Basics (includes glossaries), Responding to Music, For
Primary, World Music, Western Tradition, American Music, Music &
Technology, Music Resources, and Index/Correlations.
The Music Toolkit also contains a set of Music Idea Cards (minilessons
and at-a-glance ideas) and a set of 10 posters illustrating
music periods and the big ideas of the Program of Studies. The
Music section of the Arts Toolkit web site offers additional lesson plans and idea cards, video previews,
a Kentuckians in Music career feature, and other resources.
The Dance Arts Toolkit includes the following materials:
- Five Dance Arts Toolkit DVDs. The Dance Toolkit DVDs offer more
than 12 hours—over 160 segments—of performances, commentary,
and demonstrations.
- The World of Dance CD-ROM. This interdisciplinary CD-ROM takes
students on a tour of the dance and music of 39 countries around the
world as well as selected cities/regions of the United States. The tour
includes cultural information about each country, video segments,
and classroom ideas. The For Teachers section includes lesson plans
and audio files of the music that accompanies the folk dances demonstrated
on the Dances from Many Cultures DVD.
