This 2001 KET field trip pulls back the curtains, giving students a firsthand look at what it takes to commission, cast, rehearse, and produce a play. The trip takes them to Horse Cave, KY and introduces them to the directors, producers, actors, technicians, and front-of-house staff members who are responsible for this regional company’s 25 years of success at providing Western Kentucky with high-quality professional theater.

A look at what it takes to mount a theatrical production, both on and off the stage, and to operate a theater company. Designed for middle and high school students, this 2001 KET production explains the functions of directors, producers, actors, technicians, and front-of-house staff members in staging plays and attracting and serving an audience. Located near Mammoth Cave, Horse Cave Theatre (since renamed the Kentucky Repertory Theatre at Horse Cave) is a leading regional theater company. 28 minutes
