Bring your students along as we visit three busy veterinarians in Jessamine County. Our doctors from the Jessamine Veterinarian Clinic—Dr. William McCaw, Dr. Dan Bowling, and Dr. Stacy Burdick—answer questions about medical treatments for our four-footed friends and give you a glimpse of their daily activities. As we follow several cases from start to finish, students meet a variety of animals: cats, dogs, horses, cows, and even some exotic pets.

During office visits, farm trips, and special surgery, this field trip also shows

  • the computers and other technology used in a veterinarian’s office.
  • how veterinarians diagnose patients who cannot talk.
  • problem solving in real-life situations.
  • careers available to people who want to work with animals.

This field trip was co-produced by KET and the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture. It was first broadcast on May 5, 1998.
