Math Works extends the mathematics instruction begun in the 4th-grade series It Figures to 5th graders. The programs cover such skills as estimation, mental computation, and problem-solving strategies. Dramatic vignettes in each program show 5th graders solving problems involving mathematics. The authentic documentary illustrations of people using mathematics are designed to strengthen the concept that mathematical skills are applicable to real life.
