Signing Time! introduces young children to American Sign Language using live-action sequences, animation, song, and dance. This multi-sensory approach keeps kids engaged while encouraging visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning.

Children naturally communicate with their hands and bodies. Research has shown several benefits of learning ASL:

  • Babies and toddlers can express their needs through sign long before they can speak, resulting in fewer tantrums.
  • As with other second languages, school-age children can develop larger vocabularies and better reading skills in their native language.
  • A child with special needs or developmental delays can find his or her own unique “voice.”

Signing Time! stars a mother named Rachel; her daughter, Leah, who is deaf; and Leah’s cousin Alex, who can hear. With the help of their animated pet frog, Hopkins, they teach hundreds of vocabulary-building ASL signs that are useful in daily life.

Broadcast Schedules

Individual episodes of Signing Time! also air as part of KET’s regular children’s schedule. See the complete broadcast schedule for details.
