This multimedia civics project outlines the fundamental principles of democracy, explains the rights and responsibilities that come with citizenship, and uses stories of real young people from around the country to illustrate getting involved in community issues. Programs 1-4 are designed for grades 2-4, while Programs 5-8 are for grades 6-10. All of the programs, along with the accompanying online materials and teaching guides, are directly aligned with national cross-curricular standards.

101. Rules for Citizens
Who needs rules? Anyone who wants to make a difference in his or her community.
102. Rights of Citizens
Young people take action to preserve their rights and those of fellow students.
103. Responsibilities of Citizens
Stories of young activists demonstrate personal and communal responsibility in school and community settings.
104. Choices and Changes
Young people from around the country talk about how they decided to become advocates for changes in their communities.
105. Principles of Democracy
Explores three fundamentals of democracy: an impartial judicial system, a free press, and free and fair elections.
106. Citizenship and Majority Rule
Three stories focusing on responsibility to self and to others illuminate the meaning of democracy.
107. Power and Privilege
Examines the relationship between power and privilege in three cases involving discrimination, speeding, and tobacco companies.
108. Activism and Social Justice
Young activists show how to make your voice heard.
