Through a re-creation of a Peigan people’s hunt at the world’s largest, oldest, and best-preserved buffalo jump, students learn about the importance of geography to Native American societies and about the reasons for the near extinction of the American bison. Stories from Native elders, a visit to the annual Buffalo Jump Pow Wow, and interviews with archaeologists reveal the complexity of Peigan culture.
