This series is the only passport you will need to take students on a trip to modern-day Japan. It models an integrated, cross-curricular approach to teaching Western children in grades 4-8 about the children of contemporary Japan.

Because Japan is a major trading partner for businesses in the United States, it is important for students to have information on its people, language, and culture in order to continue and further relations between the two countries. Children make decisions about which foreign language to study during grades 4-8, and they base their decisions on their impressions of the country where the language is spoken.
