This beautifully photographed series shows how geography helped shape the history, government, and business of the United States. Documentary segments and historic reenactments introduce prominent industries, agriculture, mining activities, and historical events by region. Map skills are reinforced to help students place these regions within the United States as a whole.

101. South Central Region
Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico: a look at the fastest-growing regional economy in the United States and the influence of Native American and Mexican cultures.
102. New England Region
Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire: how the Atlantic Ocean and its bays contributed to the early development of the American economy.
103. Mid-Atlantic Region
New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia: how waterways, protected bays, and moderate climate made this region a prosperous transportation center.
104. Southeast Region
The region's rich history, economy, and geography.
105. Midwest and Great Plains Region
Rich topsoil and adequate rainfall make this region a flourishing agricultural zone.
106. Mountain West Region
The extensive rivers, canyons, basins, and mountain ranges of the West make it a popular tourist destination.
107. Pacific West Region
The West Coast's rainforests, deserts, and volcanoes provide a varied backdrop for a prospering regional economy based on technology and natural resource industries.
