1 Ongoing Establishment of training programs designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions Various training opportunities for current employees. Maintenance Engineer and Graphics Designer completed college courses (Adobe Dreamweaver and Security Fundamentals) in May of 2011. More than 100 employees attended various Microsoft classes between June 7 and September 8, 2011. 17 employees attended a 2 day project management class held on February 8-9, 2012. 2 Ongoing Provision of training to management- level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination Various training opportunities for current employees; 31 employees (primarily management staff) attended EEO/Diversity training held on May 18, 2011. 27 employees attended EEO/Diversity training held on June 29, 2011 Diversity, anti-discrimination, and sexual harassment training for supervisors and managers Ronald Brown
3 Ongoing Participation in programs designed to promote outreach generally Provide KET Tours to school groups from all over the state Expose elementary, middle, and high school students to careers in the broadcasting industry. 4 Ongoing Establishment of an internship program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment Expose college students to broadcasting careers /environment through internship opportunities Host interns from state colleges who are majoring in areas that relate to broadcasting and business for credit hours Ron Brown and Jill Fitzpatrick
5 Ongoing Participation in other activities designed by the station employment unit reasonably calculated to further the goal of disseminating information as to employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities Expose high school students to broadcasting careers/environment through job shadowing/co-op opportunities Host students from local high schools who are interested in broadcasting careers in 7-week program in conjunction with Fayette County Public Schools Ron Brown, Jill Fitzpatrick, and Area Supervisors
6 Ongoing Participation in at least 4 events or programs sponsored by educational institutions relating to career opportunities in broadcasting Video Production Workshops & Consultations Conduct workshops for students and teachers in Kentucky public schools or in the KET Media Lab, providing teachers and students instruction on basic production skills and how they can be integrated into the classroom to enhance various curriculum areas, address 21st century skills, and provide students with a creative outlet for communicating. 7 Ongoing Participation in at least 4 events or programs sponsored by educational institutions relating to career opportunities in broadcasting Professional Development Workshops Professional development presentations to Kentucky teachers and pre-service teachers to provide tools and strategies for using KET resources effectively to meet curriculum needs. KET also provides training for adult and early childhood educators, and staff present at education conferences throughout the year.
