This is a part-time contract position. Approximately 10 hours per week are required, for a total of 250 hours. |
| Duties |
The instructional designer will help the KET Distance Learning German teacher integrate interactive web-based technologies into existing German I, II, and III classes. Specific duties include the following:
- Test the feasibility of implementing various web 2.0 platforms in a distance learning environment.
- Develop processes to support web 2.0 platforms within the existing KET Distance Learning web site and staff structure.
- Incorporate performance-based assessment into the curriculum through the use of web-based tools.
- Build measures to gauge the effectiveness of web 2.0 technologies in improving student achievement and engagement.
- Brainstorm ideas with the KET German department.
- Think creatively to solve problems.
- Attend meetings (both virtually and face-to-face) as necessary.
- Perform other duties related to the implementation of web 2.0 platforms as assigned.

| Qualifications |
- Applicants should be knowledgeable in educational applications of web 2.0 platforms, such as Facebook, Ustream.tv, Voicethread, Mindmeister, Second Life, Google Sketchup, Google Earth, wikis, blogs, podcasts, etc.
- A certified secondary education teacher or technology resource teacher is preferred.
- Must be team-oriented and able to work collaboratively with educators and technology staff.
- Familiarity with language-learning pedagogy considered a plus!
