Vassar Clements is considered one of the worlds most talented and versatile fiddle players. His phenomenal ability to play virtually any kind of musicbluegrass, country, pop, rock, jazz, and swinghas garnered him numerous awards, including five Grammy nominations, and a track record that involves more than 2,000 recorded performances.
Clements career spans more than 50 years, and his résumé reads like a Hall of Fame roster. At the age of 14, he joined Bill Monroes Blue Grass Boys. Playing with the whos who of bluegrass then landed Clements in a watershed recording session in 1972, when he was asked to participate in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Bands landmark album May the Circle Be Unbroken. That exposure in turn led Clements to back-up gigs with a wider range of musical luminaries, including Jerry Garcia, Paul McCartney, the Allman Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, and many others.
Clements himself takes center stage as he brings his own Little Big Band to Jubilee. This performance was recorded at the 1999 Master Musicians Festival in Somerset, KY.
