This hour of high-caliber bluegrass, which kicked off Jubilees sixth season, features the talents of Hyden natives the Osborne Brothers, playing at the 2000 edition of the annual festival they host in their Kentucky hometown.
Since their first public performance together in 1953, Bobby and Sonny Osborne have perfected a signature sound marked by instrumental wizardry and riveting vocals. Nine-time winners of the Music City News Bluegrass Act of the Year Award (1971-1979), 1975 inductees into Bill Monroes Bluegrass Hall of Fame, and 1994 International Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Honor inductees, the Osbornes have placed more records on the national charts than any other bluegrass band in history. From their Tennessee anthem Rocky Top to their late-90s album Dayton to Knoxville, the Osborne Brothers renderings on mandolin and five-string banjo continue to win the acclaim of critics and fans alikenearly half a century after their entry onto the bluegrass scene.
