Inspired by tradition and fueled by youthful innovation, Mountain Heart has claimed its seat at the forefront of contemporary bluegrass music. In this Jubilee performance, the group takes the stage fresh from the release of its second album, The Journey.

Mountain Heart came together in 1999 and was named Emerging Artist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association even before releasing an album. Fans attribute such quick success to the band members’ individual musical accomplishments—along with their ability to fuse their talents into an exciting bluegrass-gospel blend. Industry experts’ appreciation of the group’s rich sound is attested to by the fact that The Journey, an all-gospel release, was recorded in collaboration with bluegrass master Ricky Skaggs on his Ceili Music label.

Celebrating the return of original member and mandolin virtuoso Adam Steffey, Mountain Heart delivers its trademark blend of Appalachian traditional sounds and pioneering musical artistry in a performance taped at the 2001 Poppy Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Morehead, KY.
