When blues is mentioned in Cincinnati, invariably Stacy “The Blues Doctor” Mitchhart is one of the first names to come out of people’s mouths. Mitchhart and his band, Blues-U-Can-Use, are household names in his hometown, where Stacy started playing professionally at age 14. Now you can find them most nights at the Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar (recipient of the National Blues Foundation’s Blues Club of the Year award in 2000) in Nashville, where they continue to earn accolades and draw countless fans as the house band. They bring their rockin’ sound to Jubilee with a performance recorded at the 2001 W.C. Handy Blues Festival in Henderson, KY.

Mitchhart, who has five albums to his credit, has performed with the likes of Koko Taylor, Eddie Shaw, Junior Wells, H-Bomb Ferguson, Tab Benoit, and many others. As he tells it, “My style of music, along with the Blues-U-Can-Use, is kind of R&B blues. We’ve been likened to Stevie Ray Vaughan, but I feel we’re more Hendrix-rockish.”
