The McKendrees, a Western Kentucky bluegrass band featuring siblings Jason, Jessalyn, and Justin and their father, Ricky, make their Jubilee debut in a performance taped at the 2003 Kentucky Lake Bluegrass Festival.

The group includes Jason on banjo, Jessalyn on vocals and fiddle, Justin on vocals and mandolin, Ricky on guitar, and Ron Barnett on bass. Barnett, who joined the band in 2001, is a former member of Josh Williams and High Gear, Special Consensus, the Kentucky Wonders, and J.B. Taylor and Kentucky Tradition.

McKendree patriarch Ricky and his wife, Becky, raised their children to love music. Ricky claims that the family talent comes from his mother, Elizabeth, who occasionally joins the band on guitar and performs her own original songs. The McKendrees got their start performing at the Bethel Baptist Church in Marshall County. Their first CD, Travelin’ Back, was released in 2002.
