Paul Williams, an accomplished bluegrass mandolin player and singer, began his career in the early 1950s as a member of the legendary Lonesome Pine Fiddlers. He went on to perform with Jimmy Martin’s Sunny Mountain Boys and then, for a short period, with one of the most respected banjo players in the history of bluegrass, J.D. Crowe. After a long period of performing gospel solo for local audiences, he began a third phase of his career in the late ’90s with the formation of the Victory Trio. The band has released several albums since.

Williams and the trio play straightforward yet soulful bluegrass in the classic tradition, abandoning more flashy styles of playing for an uncomplicated and simply sweet sound. Their music carries a clear and cheerful message through down-to-earth tunes and tenderly delivered vocals.
