Rhonda Vincent’s love for traditional bluegrass music fuels her mission to satisfy long-time fans while bringing fresh audiences to the show. On this episode of Jubilee, recorded at the 2005 River of Music Party in Owensboro, Vincent and her band, the Rage, perform a collection of bluegrass standards and original songs that is sure to please bluegrass fans old and new.

As a young girl growing up in the hills of Missouri, Vincent learned to play bluegrass from her family. She quickly developed into a talented singer, songwriter, and musician and has since become one of the most highly regarded stars of bluegrass, winning the International Bluegrass Music Award for Female Vocalist six years running.

“We’ve made a conscious effort to change the image of traditional bluegrass,” Vincent said. “The Rage and I are trying to let the world know that you can play bluegrass and still be on the cutting edge.”

The performance includes traditional bluegrass and contemporary selections, all of which display the talented energy of the band. The Rage features award-winning fiddle player Hunter Berry; well-known bassist Mickey Harris; stringed instrument maestro Josh Williams; and banjo player Kenny Ingram, who performed with bluegrass legends Lester Flatt and Jimmy Martin.
