Kentucky native Larry Cordle has written songs recorded by Ricky Skaggs, Garth Brooks, Alison Krauss, Alan Jackson, George Strait, the Osborne Brothers, and many others. His songs have appeared on projects that have sold more than 50 million records.

But Cordle has also found success as a performer by following a straightforward formula: To complement his heartfelt original songs and distinctive singing style, he simply surrounded himself with the most outstanding musicians he could find. The result was Lonesome Standard Time, founded in 1990 as a joint venture between Cordle and long-time friend Glen Duncan.

Success came quickly for the band, yielding Grammy nominations for the group’s first two albums. The second, Murder on Music Row, also reached Number 1 on both the Americana and bluegrass charts and saw its title track named Song of the Year by the Country Music Association and the International Bluegrass Music Association.

For this Jubilee appearance, Lonesome Standard Time features guitarist Booie Beach, Kim Gardner on dobro, bassist Mike Anglin, Chris Davis on mandolin, and Kristin Scott-Benson on banjo. Larry calls them “just some of the finest players I’ve ever heard.”
