On this edition of Jubilee, Pine Mountain Railroad, a tight-knit group from Tennessee, uncovers the roots of traditional bluegrass and all things high and lonesome.

Most of the group grew up singing in church, while their love for the bluegrass style developed further when they each discovered the work of Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys, Flatt & Scruggs, the Osborne Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Red Allen, Reno & Smiley, Jim & Jesse, and the Stanley Brothers. As a result, their music owes a lot to southern gospel hymns and forms, as well as the up-tempo, driving rhythms of bluegrass. The groupís work has found its way to the top ten on national bluegrass charts several times, and audiences around the world have had the chance to enjoy their spirited brand of traditional bluegrass.

The band members are Cody Shuler on mandolin, Bill McBee on bass, Matt Flake on fiddle, Mark Cable and Eli Johnston on guitar, and Elmer Burchett on banjo.

A young group plumbing deep in the wells of their bluegrass forebears, Pine Mountain Railroad are sure to please any fan of classic tunes and talented musicianship.
