This edition of Jubilee features the Corn Island band, a group of close friends from Louisville who share a love of good times making music together.

The current lineup includes Daniel Phelps on guitar, Bobby Parton on bass, John Laswell on banjo, and Rod Lunger on mandolin. After forming in 1999, the group began creating their unique brand of easy-going, hometown bluegrass and folk-inspired music, drawing inspiration from many sources, old and new. Their repertoire ranges from classic Bill Monroe and Jimmie Rodgers songs and excellently crafted original tunes to exceptional “grassified” covers of U2 and the Doobie Brothers. Maintaining a consistent performance schedule, touring the bluegrass festival circuit and playing various gigs at home, the group continues to get faces smiling and feet shuffling with their fun brand of tunes.

For those who can appreciate a homegrown, down-to-earth approach to songwriting and performing, the Corn Island Band’s Jubilee performance leads an enjoyable journey through the many winding paths of acoustic-based, bluegrass inspired music.
