Jubilee
The Lonesome River Band brings its 25 years of experience as a bluegrass favorite to this edition of Jubilee. Infusing traditional bluegrass with a contemporary edge, theirs is a truly energetic performance of hard-driving bluegrass.
Having withstood numerous personnel changes, the band remains rooted in the traditional sounds of Flatt & Scruggs and Bill Monroe while continuing to set standards of their own. The group has gained praise for fusing ultra-tight vocal harmonies with virtuosic musicianship and well-conceived song arrangements. Anchored by the award-winning banjo playing of band leader Sammy Shelor, whose playing has earned him IBMA’s Banjo Player of the Year award on four separate occasions, the group continues to get audiences moving to their up-tempo and spirited brand of bluegrass.
For fans of innovative songwriting within the traditional bluegrass style, The Lonesome River Band plays sweet tunes with a grace that’s high and lonesome.
