On this edition of Jubilee, Butch Waller and High Country tread the road of traditional bluegrass all the way from the West Coast.

Over the last 30 years, High Country has become one of the West Coast’s premier traditional bluegrass bands. Following the classic styles of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and the Stanley Brothers, High Country’s repertoire offers a vital mix of powerful standards—from blues to breakdowns to gospel tunes sung in close harmony—and original songs that remain true to the genre, paying careful attention to the varied nuances of the bluegrass style.

The band has toured extensively in the United States and has played many of the major bluegrass festivals, including Bill Monroe’s Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival, at which they were the first West Coast band ever to be invited to perform. With driving rhythms, skillful picking, and soulful singing, High Country brings the energy and experience of six seasoned professionals and three decades of performing to the bluegrass scene.

For fans of traditional bluegrass, High Country takes audiences back to the heyday of classic bluegrass.
