Curtis Burch learned to play guitar from his father. As a teenager Curtis played with such leading bluegrass musicians as the Stanley Brothers, Jim and Jesse McReynolds, and the Osborne Brothers. In the early 1970s, he teamed up with Sam Bush, Courtney Johnson, and John Cowan to form the New Grass Revival, which changed the shape of Bluegrass music by infusing it with rock and other genre.
At the 3rd annual International Bluegrass Festival in 2011, Burch performed with his own band, demonstrating why he is an icon of bluegrass.
