The James King Band

When bluegrass musician James King leans into the microphone and lets go with one of his strong vocal performances, it’s easy to see—and feel—the enthusiasm and love this Galax, VA native has for the traditional music he plays. King, who played with the Lundy Brothers and the Southern Mountain Boys, credits his love of bluegrass music to Jimmy Martin and Carter and Ralph Stanley.

The James King Band also includes Mike Compton on mandolin, Tom Adams on banjo, David McLaughlin on guitar and vocals, and Marshall Wilborn on bass. Together, they have recorded four albums: These Old Pictures, Lonesome and Then Some, Bed by the Window, and Thirty Years of Farming.
