Stacy Mitchhart and Blues-U-Can-Use

When blues is mentioned in Cincinnati, Stacy “The Blues Doctor” Mitchhart is invariably one of the first names to come out of people’s mouths. Mitchhart and his band, Blues-U-Can-Use, are household names in his hometown, where Stacy started playing professionally at age 14.

Now you can find them most nights at the Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar in Nashville (recipient of the National Blues Foundation’s Blues Club of the Year award in 2000), where they continue to earn accolades and draw countless fans as the house band.

Blues-U-Can-Use is made up of Peter Burger, Michael Dearing, Darin James, Howard Laravea, Michael McDaniel, and Jon-Paul Frappier.

Mitchhart has six albums to his credit and has performed with the likes of Koko Taylor, Eddie Shaw, Junior Wells, H-Bomb Ferguson, Tab Benoit, and many others. As he tells it, “My style of music, along with the Blues-U-Can-Use, is kind of R&B blues. We’ve been likened to Stevie Ray Vaughan, but I feel we’re more Hendrix-rockish.”
