Missy Raines

A West Virginia native, Missy Raines was the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Bass Player of the Year for 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001. The Chicago Tribune named her solo debut CD, My Place in the Sun, one of its top five bluegrass albums of 1998.

Missy now performs full-time with guitarist Jim Hurst as a duo; their first joint release was titled Two. Missy and Jim draw on their varied musical experiences to create a diverse blend of original acoustic, bluegrass, swing, and country blues.
