Sofa King Deluxe pumps out its own brand of blues, swing, shuffle, and boogie-woogie rhythms in energetic sets and entertaining live shows.
Chosen as the Best Unsigned Blues Band 2000 by the Kentuckiana Blues Society, Sofa King Deluxe is a Chicago-influenced band that serves up blues styles from the Prohibition era through the late 1960s.
The bandnative Kentuckians James Bellando of Berea, Mark McCoy of Pike County, and Jack Smith of Bybee, plus Jamie Potterbaum of South Carolina and Randy Eldridge of Traverse City, MIformed in the fall of 1988 when Jamie and James united to play acoustic shows. Since then, Sofa King Deluxe has been featured on morning shows on Louisvilles WAVE-TV and WHAS-TV and on Georgetowns WRVG-FM.
Taped at the 2000 Master Musicians Festival in Somerset, KY, the groups Jubilee performance features the critically acclaimed blues sound that landed Sofa King Deluxe a spot in the 2001 Memphis International Blues Challenge.
