Larry Stephenson Band (#306)

A Virginian takes the Kentucky stage for some traditional bluegrass.

Larry Stephenson describes himself as “singer first and mandolin player second,” and he does a top-notch job at both. A product of one of the most fertile talent-producing regions in America—Virginia—Stephenson ranks among the half dozen preeminent high lead tenor singers in bluegrass music. Recorded at the 5th Annual Osborne Brothers Hometown Festival in Hyden, KY, he and his band wow the audience with their bluegrass prowess in this Jubilee performance.

A regular on the WSM Grand Ole Opry, the Larry Stephenson Band tends to wow audiences wherever it plays. Stephenson himself has been inducted into the Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame, and the governor proclaimed June 23, 1996 “Larry Stephenson Day” in Virginia.
