Tagging the Migrating Monarchs

Admission is $5 for members, $7.50 for nommembers. Advance registration is required. Participants will capture, tag and release monarchs and partner with the University of Kansas to help scientists explore questions about the monarchs.

The event, billed as a collision of art, music, science, and technology, features light projected onto mist, films screened on shimmering trees, floating fire sculpture, an experimental music orchestra conducted by nature, and kinetic sculptures powered by water from whiskey barrels, plus food and drink.

Lecture: Prehistoric Peoples and Plants in Kentucky

Cost is $5 for members, $7 for nonmembers. Archaeologist Gwynn Henderson presents an overview of Kentucky’s diverse prehistoric cultures, with a special emphasis on the different ways these groups used plants in Kentucky from 10,000 B.C. to historic times.
